Pearce Hire has confirmed their participation at the upcoming PLASA Focus trade show, taking place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May 2015. Pearce Hire has become a regular exhibitor at the show and will once more be promoting their production services and rental business.
“We recognise the significance of this regional event and it has now become an important date in the diary for us to network with industry colleagues and clients,” observes Shaun Pearce, MD Pearce Hire. It will be the third year running that the Cambridgeshire based company has taken a stand at the sell-out show.
Pearce Hire operates nationally and internationally and their expertise covers all aspects of production management, production solutions and bespoke installations, in addition to an extensive inventory of rental equipment for dry-hire.
“This is an excellent show for us to promote our festival and outdoor events capabilities at the start of the season,” comments Shaun Pearce, MD Pearce Hire.
Pearce Hire is renowned for its expertise working on Greenfield sites as demonstrated by its long-standing client list including Forestry Commission, National Trust, British Birdwatching Fair and the Cambridge Folk Festival.
“We already work on events in the North of the UK, but we are very keen to further establish contact with local production managers and event organisers to introduce our portfolio and what we can offer as a one-stop solution for the flourishing event sector in this region” adds Pearce.
Pearce Hire offers over 30 years experience providing power, lighting, audio, staging, rigging, drapes, project consultancy and technical production services to the outdoor and indoor event, festival, entertainment and corporate event industries. They have a solid reputation as a provider of bespoke power solutions as well as supplying stage and site lighting, audio and staging specifications whatever size or type of event. Pearce Hire was recently shortlisted a second time for ‘Favourite Power Supply Company’ at the TPI 2015 awards.

Pearce Hire continues their long-standing support of the Showman’s Show by confirming their presence at the exhibition on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October. Pearce Hire has regularly participated at the Showman’s Show because it offers an important platform for promoting their expertise in the provision of services for the outdoor and special events market.
Pearce Hire offers over 30 years knowledge providing power, lighting, audio, staging, project consultancy and production services to the outdoor and indoor event, festival, entertainment and corporate event industries. The Showman’s Show at Newbury Showground happens at a convenient ‘lull’ at the end of the busiest summer season ‘on record’ for Pearce Hire. It is an important platform for the promotion of the full range of services offered by Pearce Hire, and a chance for the team to network with current clients and discuss plans for the next 12 months, re-connect with old clients and meet prospective new customers face-to-face.
Events supplied over the summer by Pearce Hire include the 50th Cambridge Folk Festival which has been a Pearce Hire customer for over 27 years. In addition to providing power distribution and stage lighting for this landmark event, they have supplied other regular clients including the British Birdwatching Fair, Field Day Festival, Mama Bars, Forest Live and the Warner’s Motorhome Shows. Pearce Hire has also worked with new clients Norfolk & Norwich Festival, For All Events, Rick Wakeman and GL Events. This range and variety of events – from outdoor festivals to corporate events and conferences demonstrate the company’s breadth of services from dry hire to full installation and complete production and project management.
Reflecting the company’s continuing CSR and investment in people in the industry, Pearce Hire is looking forward to welcoming the next group of interns from Peterborough Regional College. The Pearce Hire internship programme offers practical hands-on experience and learning for B-TEC students in the busy warehouse environment, and gives a feel for the career opportunities in the production industry.
In another recent development, and acknowledging Pearce Hire’s expertise in the outdoor production and touring industries, the company has been nominated in two categories at the 2015 Total Production Awards for ‘Favourite Power Supply Company’ and ‘Favourite Lighting Rental Company’.
MD Shaun Pearce observes ‘The team here at Pearce Hire are focussed on offering an exceptional turnkey solution for outdoor events and on-site power distribution requirements especially for greenfield sites. Continual investment in the company’s kit inventory strengthens our offer alongside our project management and production abilities. In particular we are keen to speak to visitors at the Showman’s Show about our expanded portfolio of power distribution and generator solutions – from stand alone generators to multiple synchronised generating sets.’
He continues ‘We remain focussed on nurturing the skills of our current team as well as the upcoming generation of technicians and crew which is why we are so pleased with our continuing intern programme as a way of introducing students into our industry. And for our current team, receiving nominations for the Total Production Awards is a reflection of their hard work and professionalism, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for a short-list place!’

Pearce Hire is proud to announce its first time sponsorship of the 2014 Technical Theatre Awards. The Technical Theatre Awards were launched in 2013 as a way of formally recognising the outstanding achievements and dedication of the backstage ‘unsung heroes’ of the technical theatre industry. The awards are presented annually at the PLASA London exhibition at ExCel each October. The nominees are shortlisted from individuals elected by their industry peers at the beginning of the year, and then voting conducted between June and September decides the final recipient of each award.
This year there are a total of 17 awards and Pearce Hire is sponsoring the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Stage Crew’ award. This award highlights an individual within any role of the Stage Department, who is renowned for their dedication and effort to this discipline and respected amongst the technical theatre community.
Pearce Hire view these awards as a way to publically recognise the technical expertise that is required backstage to ensure an excellent standard of production takes to the stage – be it on the West End stage or in a local theatre.
‘The Stage Crew award seemed to provide the perfect synergy with what we do at Pearce Hire as well as our main customer base’ observes Shaun Pearce, MD Pearce Hire. ‘After all, the stage crew are the life-blood of our industry’, he continues. ‘We have many designers, operators and lots of kit but with no crew to unload it, rig it, work it and then load it all back to prep for the next show, where would the industry be?’
Alongside their sponsorship of the Technical Theatre Awards and recognising excellence in stagecraft, Pearce Hire has a well-established intern/work experience programme at their HQ in Peterborough, working with their local performing arts and FE college to nurture the next generation of technical talent and stage crew for the industry.
